Red velvet blossom cookies with a bright crimson color and a chocolate Hershey's kiss pressed in while still warm. An easy holiday cookie recipe made.

Ingredients

Butter, softened – 7 tablespoons (99g)
Brown sugar – ½ cup (100g)
White sugar – 2 tablespoons (25g)
Vanilla extract – 1 teaspoon (5ml)
Egg yolk – 1 large (17g)
Red gel food coloring – ¼ teaspoon (adjust to desired color)
All-purpose flour – 1 cup (120g)
Cocoa powder – 1 tablespoon (7g)
Baking powder – ½ teaspoon (2.5g)
Salt – ¼ teaspoon (1.25g)
Hershey’s Kisses – 18 pieces (Use the candy cane flavor)

Instructions

In a stand mixer, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar for 3–4 minutes until light and fluffy.

Add the vanilla extract, egg yolk, and red gel food coloring. Mix for another 1–2 minutes until fully combined.

Add in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix until the cookie dough comes together.

On a parchment-lined baking sheet, use a 3-ounce cookie scoop to portion out 16 cookies.

Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 10–13 minutes.

Immediately after baking, press one Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each cookie.

Let the cookies cool completely before serving.
