Chocolate Chip Chai Spiced Cookies

by Josephine

Brown butter chai-spiced cookies loaded with semi-sweet chocolate chips and warm spice from cinnamon and cardamom. A one-bowl cookie recipe with no.

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. On medium-low heat, heat up the butter and let it come to a light simmer. Constantly stir the butter until it’s turned an amber brown. Transfer this to a glass bowl and let this cool to room temperature. In a large bowl, add in the butter, sugar, egg and vanilla extract and whisk these ingredients together for 3-4 minutes until the batter is light and fluffy.

Add in the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, chai spices and chocolate chips. Gently stir this together until the ingredients are well combined.

Let the cookie dough chill in the freezer for 20-30 minutes. Using a cookie scoop, Portion the dough about 2 tablespoons per cookie and placed them on a parchment lined baking sheet.

Bake the cookies for 11-13 minutes until the edges are golden brown.

Optionally, I lightly sprinkled some flaky sea salt once the cookies were done baking. This recipe made 8 cookies.
