Chocolate Cherry Baked Donuts
by JosephineBaked chocolate donuts packed with cocoa powder and pitted cherries for a deep, fruity chocolate flavor. An easy baked donut recipe that skips the fryer.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) Pit and chop about half a cup of cherries. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, oil, sugar and vanilla.
Add in the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, chopped cherries and salt. Whisk this together for about a minute until just combined. Grease the donut pan. Add the batter into a piping bag and pipe the batter into the donut pan, filling each one almost to the top of the donut mold.
Bake for 13-16 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool for 5 minutes, then tap the doughnuts out onto a sheet pan. Once the donuts are cooled down, make the chocolate glaze by heating up your milk and whisking your chocolate chips in until you have a smooth glaze. Dip each donut into the chocolate glaze.
Optionally, Add a few pieces of chopped cherries as a topping.
