Chai Spiced Apple Crumble Cake
by JosephineA brown butter cake layered with chai-spiced apples and a crunchy oat crumble topping throughout. An easy chai apple cake recipe that uses simple spice.
To start, Preheat my oven to 375 degrees F (191C). Over a medium-low heat, Melt my butter in a small pan. Mix this constantly and elt it lightly simmer until the butter turned an amber brown color. Take this off the heat and let it cool to room temperature.
Then, I thinly sliced two small apples. In a small bowl, Mix together the juice of one lemon, granulated sugar, and chai spices with the apple slices. Let this marinate and made the cake batter. In a large bowl, Add in all the wet ingredients: butter, milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and brown sugar for the cake batter and whisked this for 2-3 minutes.
Then added in the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, and salt and mixed this until the cake batter was well combined. Line an 8x8 baking pan with parchment paper and poured the cake batter in. Then I drained the juices from the sliced apples and set the juice aside for the glaze.
I sprinkled the sliced apples on top of the cake batter.
Then Mix together my chai crumble topping and sprinkled this on top of the apple slices. Bake for 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until you can stick a toothpick in the middle and have it come out clean. Once it was done baking, Let the cake cool to room temperature for 3-4 hours. Mix together the glaze ingredients and drizzle over the cooled cake.
